Petra - a young (if slightly embittered) woman who works in the Emerald City as a private investigator. Years ago, she worked as a palace guard to support herself and her little brother. When her brother disappeared without a trace, she appealed to her fellow guards and Queen Ozma to help look for him. When her request was denied, she quit the guard and went into business for herself - helping those who can't get help from anyone else. While she's had hardships in her time, she still is able to approach life with a healthy dose of wry humor. |

Dee - was one of the first mortals to ever travel to Oz, and came to visit several times before finally settling down in the kingdom for good. In the old days, she was a favored friend of Queen Ozma, but in recent years Dee has been given the cold shoulder. Cooped up in the royal palace with only her small dog Toto for company, she longs to escape her gilded cage but is unwilling to leave all of her comforts behind. What's an honorary princess to do? |

The Gumps - are a mishmash. Their elk heads are mounted to two sofas. They've got palm tree limbs for wings, and brooms for tails. Nick Chopper - Also known as the Tin Man, Nick was made Governor of Winkie Country after the infamous Witch of the West was killed. His sensitive heart, given to him by the wizard, made him an ideal candidate. However, years of watching corrupt officials get the better of him have taken their toll. Nowadays, he is in terrible shape. He spends most of his days drinking low-grade motor oil. letting his metal body rust, and doing his best to stop caring. |

Queen Ozma - The undisputed ruler of the kingdom. Ozma has the appearance of a lovely 18 year old girl, but has a mind and will of steel. She is a fair ruler, with extraordinary magic powers. Unfortunately, it is her power that causes much resentment among the population. Her decision to ban the use of magic (except for a select few) was not a very popular one. Since the country was invaded twenty years previously, she has grown increasingly cold and distant to her people. She concentrates most of her efforts into keeping the kingdom safe, while ignoring the more obvious problems of her peoples' unhappiness. |

The Frogman - An eloquent speaker, impeccably dressed in a yellow dinner jacket, and naturally friendly; he gives every impression of being a rich, reclusive eccentric. One wouldn't expect him to be one of the most ruthless and violent gangsters west of the Emerald City. |
General Jinjur - The head of the royal palace guard. When Jinjur is on the case, be wary. She has a pitbull-like stubbornness and will not rest until her man is caught. Whatever happened back then, none can say, but there is no doubt that Jinjur has nothing but contempt for Emerald City's only detective.

Scraps - Also known as the Patchwork Girl, she is a woman made from multi-colored quilts and stuffed with cotton. She runs a general store in Petra's neighborhood. Her personality is best described as "eccentric." Bright-eyed, friendly, and extremely kooky. She will often jump from one conversation topic to the next with a logic only her own. Still, for a woman with brains made out of wool, she's more coherent than you'd expect. |
