	Over the last six months, Rosangela Blackwell has - for lack of choice - accepted her newfound duties as a medium and "releaser of wayward spirits". She quit her job at the Village Eye, intending to cash-in on her experiences by writing about them. Several months and several rejection slips later, she realizes her dreams of literary stardom will have to wait. In the meantime, the lost souls of Manhattan need her help.

	Joey Mallone has been haunting the Blackwell family for generations. Nobody knows why, least of all Joey. He is strangely tight-lipped about his past, usually deflecting inquiries with either a glib remark or wrathful verbal abuse. Whatever caused him to be in this situation, he is not happy about it. Regardless, he makes the best of it and does what has to be done. For better or worse.

	Nishanthi Sharma is Rosangela's next-door neighbor. Having befriended Rosa, Nishanthi has made it her mission to drag Rosa out whenever possible, usually by using guilt. Nishanthi is aware of Rosangela's writing attempts, and refers to her as "My neighbor, the ghost story writer." She will often introduce Rosa to people with a ghost story to tell.

	Josie Park is the constantly frazzled owner of a new downtown gallery. While appearing chirpy and exhuberant, she lives on raw nerves and is constantly worried about the state of her finances and whether she'll be able to pay back her investors. She is pouring all her money into a hot new artist she discovered, and is banking everything on the success of his debut.

	Monique Stahlman is the head producer of a small film studio in the East Village. For years she struggled to keep her company above water, when suddenly things turned around. A horrible tragedy struck down her lead actor, and the media blitz surrounding it sent customers to her latest film in droves. Several months later, Monique is flush with success but is trying to forget the incident that stablized her career.

	Claude Urdin has been painting on a streetcorner for over a decade, creating canvasses for tourists. One day, his routine was thrown a curveball when he was asked to be the debut artist at Josie Park's gallery. He agreed, even though the wine-and-cheese art gallery lifestyle is not for him. In the days leading up to his opening, he has been haunted by strange dreams which compell him to paint equallty haunted images.

	Unknown - This miserable spirit is currently spending eternity outside an office window. Not only that, but it's on the thirty-fifth floor. Is he just admiring the view? Or does he have something more on his mind?

	Unknown - This spirit has been spotted in Central Park, lost in thought and talking quietly to himself. Despite being dead, he seems very upbeat about life. What could be holding this spirit back from moving on?

	Unknown - A mysterious, enigmatic spirit who is trapped between worlds. She seems to know much, but reveals absolutely nothing. Warm and almost motherly, she projects an aura of comfort that Rosa has never felt in her life.

	Unknown - A whirling maelstrom of insanity. One moment she seems sad and helpless, only to erupt into a fit of red-hot anger and violence. This crazed spirit is one that Joey has encountered before, only this time she's much more powerful.
